Pantry Organized??

By on February 20, 2016

IMG_3723Are you organized? I can organize you but when it comes to myself I have to have systems in place. That was until I found Mabel’s Labels. I have been using them for years. The boys’ lunchboxes, camp stuff but now they have …Pantry & Kitchen Labels plus Spice Jar Labels. I cannot be more excited.

I make a ton of seasoning mixes to use in my recipes and now I have a nice label to but on the bottle. Instead of scotch tape and a marker. I even used them to label my pantry drawers- no more will I hear, “mom, where is the XXX?”. They can read, they can find it; hallelujah.

When I received the package in the mail of the labels, I went to work. I labeled my pantry.

Having these labels on hand made it easy to identify my spices. I made a spice blend for chicken strips. This blend can be used on a whole chicken as well. All the spices lined up on the plate. My husband actually did this for the picture; his creative side was peaking out.

Then so was mine. I use these little 4 oz jars with a flip top to store all the blends. I tried to layer the spices for a textured look in the picture.

Homemade “Poultry Spice” Seasoning Blend

Yield: 1/3 cup

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp sea salt
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper (if you like it spicy, use more)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, add all of the above ingredients and mix well to combine. (I use the back of spoon to mash/grind the ingredients together.)
  • Transfer to a 4 ounce clean spice jar.

This seasoning mix is not only a great for meats, poultry and seafood, but is also delicious on grilled or roasted veggies! This was the final product. Poultry spiced chicken strips with roasted carrots and brussel sprouts plus brown rice. Paired with a salad and plenty of table talk. It was a great family meal. Try the blend at your next family meal and use Mabel’s Labels to make your kitchen organized too.
